This Week at Lake Anne No School Monday and Tuesday (November 6 and November 7) – Parent/Teacher Conferences Thank you to all the Dads and Dad-types (grandfathers, uncles, etc) who came to Lake Anne last Friday. What a great turn-out! So many classes had special guests – so many things got done. We know how valuable your time is - and we are so pleased you chose to spend it at Lake Anne. Thank you! Marco Rando and John Smith deserve a long round of applause for coordinating this day and making certain we had lots of volunteers and lots of tasks for volunteers to take on. Thank you both! Your enthusiasm was contagious and made for a wonderful day for volunteers and the students. Wednesday (Nov 8) SCA Food Drive begins – through November 15The Lake Anne Student Council will be sponsoring their annual food drive starting on Wednesday November 8th. Students are welcome to bring canned or no-perishable foods to their afternoon teacher. All canned items collected will be going to the non-profit Reston/Herndon organization F.I.S.H. (Friendly Instant Sympathetic Help) On your next trip to the grocery store or Costco, put a little extra in your cart to make the holiday season a little easier for a family in need. Wednesday (Nov 8) – Deadline for Student Directory Cover ArtworkDesign the cover for the LAES Student Directory. Each design submitted for the contest must be black and white and no larger than 8 1/2" x 11". Please turn your artwork into your classroom teacher, marked with your name, grade and teacher's name on the back. One design will be chosen for the cover; all submissions will be included in the directory. The deadline for this contest is November 8th. She'll be talking about Relevant attributes of the Spanish Partial Immersion Program; Specific enrichment opportunities; and Strategies to help with homework. Save the Date- information will be sent home soon November 17 - the Yearbook Cover Contest deadline has been extended to November 17. Use your talent and your imagination to design the Lake Anne Yearbook Cover for the 40th Anniversary. ARtwork for this contest should be submitted to your art teacher. . We want fill the yearbook with candid pictures of our Lake Anne students doing all the wonderful things that they do each day. To do so, we need parents, teachers, students, and volunteers--anyone with access to a digital camera--to take pictures and send them to us. (For classroom pictures, please get permission from the teacher before taking photographs.) Email your high quality .jpg files to LAESyearbook@verizon.net. Please do not use an email setting when sending these photographs. For us to consider a photograph, you must provide the names and grades of the students pictured. If the photographs depict a specific classroom, event, or activity, that information would also be very helpful. We only have a few months to prepare these pages, so please start snapping!
