    Breaking News

First LEGO League Scores Big at Competition

On Sunday the Lake Anne Sea Monsters competed in the First Lego League at Eagle Ridge Middle School and placed second in the Robot Design competition and FIRST in the Robot Performance competition (over 33 other teams!)

Overall, they came in third in their division and qualified for the VA state tournament at Virginia Tech in 2 weeks!  This is a fantastic accomplishment for a rookie team in this competition!  In addition to the robot they built, they also did a research project on space elevators and their research can be seen on a pair of posters hanging near the office at school (in both English and Spanish).

Congratulations to the Lake Anne Sea Monsters:

    • Adam Gallelli
    • Brentan Walter
    • Charley Thaler
    • Caylie Baughman
    • Ekaterina Vlasova
    • Ian Aponte
    • Mia Rickenbach
    • Natalie Schauer
    • Ryan Barrett
    • Sonya Keefer

Good luck at the State Championships! We are all rooting for you!

    Please Check Lost and Found

The Lost and Found in the cafeteria is exploding with things misplaced by Lake Anne students. If you have a jacket that’s gone AWOL, or a lunchbox that hasn’t been home in a few days, please have your child check Lost and Found. Items that are still in Lost and Found before the Winter Holiday will be donated to charity.

    Fiesta Time! – March 24, 2007

Lake Anne’s Fiesta is an annual event – a fun fair, silent auction, cake walk, party extravaganza! And this year’s Fiesta will be bigger and better to celebrate Lake Anne’s 40th anniversary.

Would your business be interested in underwriting some of this event in exchange for promotion at the Fiesta and among our families? Or does your company match volunteer hours with dollars? Perhaps your organization can help with food or supplies for the event? Don’t forget the Silent Auction – items for that portion of the weekend are critical to the success of the whole Fiesta!

The Fiesta is a perfect opportunity for a Reston based business to support a Reston school. We would graciously accept any donations your business is able to provide – and will actively spread the word of their generosity.

Please contact Giannina Velez at 703.834.0710 (president@leaspta.org) to find out how you can help!

    Yearbook Candids Photos Wanted!

We want fill the yearbook with candid pictures of our Lake Anne students doing all the wonderful things that they do each day.  To do so, we need parents, teachers, students, and volunteers--anyone with access to a digital camera--to take pictures and send them to us.  (For classroom pictures, please get permission from the teacher before taking photographs.)

Email your high quality .jpg files to LAESyearbook@verizon.net.  Please do not use an email setting when sending these photographs.  For us to consider a photograph, you must provide the names and grades of the students pictured.  If the photographs depict a specific classroom, event, or activity, that information would also be very helpful.  We only have a few months to prepare these pages, so please start snapping!

If you have any questions, send an email to Ann Confer at LAESyearbook@verizon.net e or to Lee Ann Lovgren, the yearbook chair, at lalovgren@msn.com.  Thank you in advance for all your photographs!

Urgent Need for After School Program Coordinator(s)

If no parents volunteer to coordinate After School programs (Mad Science, sports, drama, etc), there will be NO Winter/Spring session offered.

If your child enjoys participating in after school activities, seriously consider helping out. The only way these programs can continue is if a volunteer (or two!) steps up.

Please contact Robin Campbell campbell1016@yahoo.com. or Giannina Velez at 703.834.0710 (president@leaspta.org) IMMEDIATELY if you can help with the After School programs or would like to discuss what the job entails.
