    Thank you to Industrial Medium!!!!

First LEGO League coach John Barrett’s company, Industrial Medium, has made an extremely generous $500 donation to the Lake Anne First LEGO League Sea Monsters. This donation will offset some of the costs of their start-up season and their trip to the State Championship. Many, many thanks to Industrial Medium for their support of Lake Anne students and the First LEGO League.

Wed (Jan 10) – PTA Sponsored AssemblySchoolSculptures with Kevin Reese, “A Perfect Balance”

A Perfect Balance is a captivating visual adventure inspired by the work of American artist Alexander Calder – the inventor of the mobile. In addition to using pre-set music, movement, animated circus sculpture and projected masterworks of modern art, Kevin creates drawings, paintings and sculpture on stage to accompany the central character Sandy on his search for his masterpiece.

    Fri (Jan 12) – Principal’s Coffee 8:45 a.m.

Make time in your morning for a visit to Lake Anne for coffee and a pastry and conversation with Mrs. Hajj and Dr. Menuey. They’ll bring you up to date on what new and exciting at Lake Anne and share their thoughts about the next quarter ahead.

    Student Directory Distribution

Any family with a paid PTA membership should have received a student directory as a PTA membership benefit. If you did not receive a directory, and think that you should have – please contact Carolyn Low (Carolyn@familytalk.org) at 703.476.5312 as soon as possible to check the status of your membership.

A limited number of additional directories are available – please contact Carolyn Low (Carolyn@familytalk.org) at 703.476.5312 if you would like to become a PTA member ($10) and receive a directory or simply purchase a directory ($5).

    Capture Candids for the Yearbook

The Yearbook team is looking for candid pictures from Lake Anne events. Please look through the pictures you took “last year” and forward a few to LAESyearbook@verizon.net - or put the prints in an envelope marked YEARBOOK and send it in the Tuesday folder. Be sure to include your contact information (name, email, phone number). Please do not send links to Ofoto or Shutterfly or other online photo services – unfortunately those images are not usable.

The yearbook may seem like a long way away but the pages are being produced now! Photos need to be received by January 16, 2007. Questions? Want to help? Contact Ann Confer (LAESyearbook@verizon.net) or Lee Ann Lovgren, the yearbook chair, at lalovgren@msn.com.

    Fiesta Time! – March 24, 2007

Lake Anne’s Fiesta is an annual event – a fun fair, silent auction, cake walk, party extravaganza! And this year’s Fiesta will be bigger and better to celebrate Lake Anne’s 40th anniversary.

How are you helping with this celebration? It is very important that many people participate so that no one person is overburdened. All types of jobs are available for all types of volunteers. The games team is meeting to decide on the fun activities for all the kids – would you like to help there? Would you like to support the Silent Auction effort? Create gift baskets? Work on the raffle? The Fiesta is a great way to meet people and truly contribute to a fun fundraiser.

Please contact Giannina Velez at 703.834.0710 (president@laespta.org) for more information about the Silent Auction and the Lake Anne Fiesta – and she’ll help you figure out how you can help!
